Teacher Eligibility and Selection Test (TEST), a single recruitment test, will be conducted for appointment of teachers from next year. At present, candidates have to appear for the DSC teacher recruitment exam and the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) separately to secure teaching jobs in government schools. Releasing the results of DSC-2012 at the Secretariat on Sunday, the minister for secondary education, Mr K. Parthasaradhy, said the new test will save lakhs of candidates from appearing for multiple tests for the same posts.

“We have released only the DSC written test results now. The final merit list will be prepared after the announcement of TET results soon as 20 per cent weightage has to be given for DSC marks. The merit list will be sent to the respective district collectors,” the minister said. Appointment letters for nearly 30,000 selected candidates will be issued in a month as directed by the CM recently, he said. The government has notified 21,343 posts under DSC for which over 3 lakh candidates have applied. The state government also conducted a written test to fill 7,100 posts in Centre-sponsored model schools coming up in all mandals next year that offer CBSE syllabus in English medium from Class VIII to XII in residential schools. Nearly 95,000 candidates have applied for these posts.

According to the Statistics of School Education (2009-10), the total number of teachers in the country from pre-primary to senior secondary is 67.23 lakh. To meet the Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) norms specified under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, the Government has sanctioned 8.17 lakh additional teachers posts between 2010 and 2012 under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) 

The Government has taken several steps for preparing and providing quality teachers. The Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Teacher Education for the XII Plan envisages establishment of District Institutes of Education and Training in all districts created upto March, 2011 and of Block Institutes of Teacher Education for expanding capacity of teacher preparation. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) grants recognition to institutions for starting programmes of teacher education. Several State Governments have also taken steps to expand teacher preparation capacity. In pursuance of the RTE Act, the NCTE has laid down the minimum teacher qualifications, including the requirement of passing the Teacher Eligibility Test as an essential qualification for being eligible for appointment as a teacher. Under the Sarva Shisksha Abhiyan, financial assistance is provided to the State Governments to enable the teachers of class I-VIII not possessing the minimum qualifications to acquire the same by 2015, and for training of in-service teachers for improving quality. 

This information was given by Dr. D. Purandeswari, Minister of State for Human Resource Development in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.

TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) will now be held on June 1 instead of May 31 as scheduled earlier.

HYDERABAD: The Commissioner and Director of School Education (CDSE) has decided to postpone the TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) by a day following the opposition parties’ call for Bharat bandh in protest against hike in petrol prices. The examination will now be held on June 1 instead of May 31 as scheduled earlier.Speaking to Express, the director of CDSE said the examination centres, hall tickets and timings will remain unchanged. However, a few changes in exam centres were likely and candidates would be individually communicated about the changes, he added.

The CTET examination will be of objective type Multiple Choice Question (MCQ's) each carrying one mark, with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking. There will be 2 papers of CTET.

• Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V
• Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII

Note: A person who intends to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).

How to Apply for Andhra Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET) May 2012

• The candidates shall at first download the ‘Information Bulletin' (free of cost) from the APTET website http://aptet.cgg.gov.in, go through it carefully and satisfy their eligibility for appearing for APTET, January 2012.
• Application Fee: The application fee for taking this exam is Rs 300 for only Paper-I OR only Paper-II OR Both (Paper-I & Paper-II). Candidates shall pay the fee through APONLINE or e-Seva centres.
• On receipt of fee at APONLINE or e-Seva the candidate shall be issued a ‘Journal Number' with which she/ he can proceed with submission of application online.

• The Candidate should be ready with photograph of size 3.5 X 3.5 cms before filling in on-line application.

Please do not scan the complete page. The entire image consisting of photo along with signature is required to be scanned and stored in *.jpeg format on local machine.
• Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 50kb. Hall-Ticket will not be issued to such candidates. Hence, after pressing the 'UPLOAD' button check if the photo is of required size, clear and is of the same candidate of whom the details are to be filled in the application.
• On submission of application form online the candidate shall be given reference ID number which should be kept carefully for any kind of future correspondence.
• On completion of submission, the candidates shall take a printout of the application and store it for future use.

Candidates should not post the printout of the application to APTET office.

HYDERABAD: The state government has allegedly earned Rs 36 lakh by issuing photocopies of OMR answer sheets with fresh totalling of marks for candidates looking to reevaluate their Teacher Eligibility Test.
What’s worse is that none of the candidates managed to get even an additional mark, making it an exercise in futility. The first TET was conducted on July 2011 for which the school education department set up a cell to issue photocopies of OMR sheets to candidates for Rs 500, if they had any doubts over computing of marks. After the exam, 1,200 candidates applied for the OMR sheets but none of them managed to improve their results.

The agitating students attacked the collectorate, damaging the window panes. Police had to resort to a lathicharge to disperse the agitating students and people who came to the collectorate to submit their grievances to the district collector ran in fear.

It may be recalled that BEd students are agitating for the last few days, protesting against the conduct of the TET and demanding that state government allow B.Ed students to appear for the SGT exam.

HYDERABAD: Students who sat for the Teachers Eligibility Test on January 8 have been left baffled by the huge difference in standards from the one conducted on July 31. Many fear that they might not even secure the qualifying marks.

With the government set to issue a District Selection Committee notification soon for appointment of teachers, the second TET was conducted to give candidates, who missed the first, an opportunity to get eligibility for the DSC examination. The test holds importance as the marks scored in that will be given 20 percent weightage in the DSC examination. The qualifying marks for the general students is 90 (60 pc), BCs 75 (50 pc), and SC/STs and physically handicapped (PH) 60 marks (40 pc). The DSC examination will be for 150 marks, with 60 questions from the candidate’s chosen subject, 30 from Telugu, 30 from English and 30 from psychology.

According to P Ram Reddy, the TET question paper was certainly much more difficult and feared he might not get the marks needed to qualify for the DSC examination. “I had not written the last TET and there won’t be another before a DSC notification. My dream of becoming a teacher is thus shattered,” he said.

Another candidate, M Yadaiah, said he had scored 94 marks in the last TET but was expecting only 75 marks this time as examiners had maintained high standards in the question paper.

With the government deciding to give weightage to marks obtained in the TET for the DSC exam, the candidates who qualified in the first TET are likely to have an edge as compared to those� who took the test on Jan 8. A considerable number of candidates want the government to conduct another TET and do justice to them.

GUWAHATI: The results of the state's first Teachers' Eligibility Test, which was conducted on Tuesday, will be declared on Thursday, state education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. Sarma added that the mark sheets of candidates who will secure 60 per cent marks will be sent to them by February 15, while personal interviews will be conducted in all 26 districts from March.
The minister also said that the pay scale of Output Based Budgeting (OBB) teachers will be regularised for those who pass the special training scheduled later this month and a two-year Diploma in Education would also be provided to the OBB teachers

Sarma also said that he will investigate reports that invigilators at some schools in Nalbari haven't received their promised remuneration of Rs 400 for single shift, Rs 800 for double shift and Rs 300 for Grade IV employees. "It was reported that invigilators haven't received their dues and the authorities have been asked to clear the dues soon." he said.
Sarma further informed, "The scanning of answer scripts will start from January 13. A CCTV system will be installed at the spot and the scanning procedure will be monitored. The results will be declared on January 25 and candidates who secure 60 per cent will receive their marksheet by February. Interviews across Assam will be conducted in March."
